Who Moved My Views?
Posted by Brian Gough on March 17, 2010
Hopefully this will be the first of many entries on 2010. Now that I have some breathing room and a working install of 2010, I thought it high time I got playing and writing about it.
In case you are not aware, SP 2010 now has “The Ribbon” ( for some, you will hear happy music here, for others you may here the music from the movie Psycho )
Personally, I like the ribbon a lot. Yes it is different and Yes you have to learn where everything is all over again. But once you get used to it, I hope you will learn to embrace it too.
So, on with the show…
One of the UI changes that I like, and will have to get used to, is how they expose the views for a list. it is no,longer on the right side of the screen, and it is no longer attached to the title bar.
It is now incorporated in the Navigation Breadcrumbs! Wha, wha, whaaat?!
Yes, here is look at the breadcrumbs when you land on the default AllItems page ( which is what? A view, same as in 2007 )
Notice to the right of “All Tasks” is a drop-down arrow. When you click on this, it will open a pop out menu with the list of available views and commands.
When you select a view, the name is now shown in the breadcrumbs and your view is displayed.
Very nice! So now you know where they moved your view to!
Enjoy!
