MSDN Event – ASP.NET AJAX and CardSpace

Posted by Brian Gough on June 23, 2007

Glen Gordon went to bat for the Charlotte area and brought the MSDN Event – ASP.NET AJAX and CardSpace to town for us. Thank you Glenn! It’s nice to know Charlotte is not forgotten.

It was a very informative meeting and apparently well received based on the questions and interactions. We got a nice look at CardSpace and what it is bringing to the table to help secure authentication on the web.

We also got a good look at Ajax and how it is changing the user experience on the web. Naturally this changes the way we develop as well.

It amuses me to see the paradign shifting back to client side script again. Not that it ever went away, but for some time now the focus has been on server side controls. Visual Studio is largely about using it’s server controls to build forms and managing state data for us so we dont’ have to worry about manage everything. But now the pendulum is swinging the other way again and there is a renewed focus on client side script. I am sure there are a lot of veteran Javascript and HTML jockeys out there wondering “…what’s the big deal? I have been doing this sort of thing for years.” 🙂

Anywho, it was a great meeting and I am grateful to Glen for making it happen.

Good luck and Good coding.
